Madame Biplane
02:54
|
|||
Madame Biplane, how the times change
Madame Biplane, I'm such in awe of you
Madame Biplane, when the lights fade
You shine so bright, fame has nothing over you
Your dreams are so admirable
You go higher, and higher, and higher
No one stands in your way
But if they did, you'd fly away
Madame Biplane, we pop the champagne
When we toast to your fine ways, we're so engrossed with you
Madame Biplane, you played the long game
We admire your vast gains, can't speak enough of you
Your goals are majestic and wise
When you're soaring as high as a skyscraper
No one gets in your way
But if they did, you'd levitate
Your stardom has taken you there
Where you go from here, who can predict for sure?
No one's blocking your away
But if they did, you'd fly away
We won't stand in your way
But if we did, you'd levitate

Bouncing Back
03:54
|
|||
A simple as a jump, a leaping or two
The trampoline was there to push her way through
and higher did she rise, touching the sky
She never thought the worst could go so awry
To grab a cloud and say hello was all that she wished
The little girl could hardly consider the risk
Before she had the chance to see what had changed
The trampoline had failed, and then came the pain
But now she's coming back around
You'll never keep her down
She's bouncing back around
and now she's coming back around
Can't ever keep her down
She's bouncing back around
As easy as it came, it all went away
The leaping in her mind was all that remained
The cards around her bed, they wished her the best
and all that she could do was ponder and rest
Getting rid of that cast, it’s a part of the past
Stepping up once again, as her injuries mend
Yes now she's coming back around
She's undeterred this round
She's bouncing back around
cuz now she's coming back around
Can't ever keep her down
She's bouncing back around

Song and Dance
03:46
|
|||
From the moment she saw the place
it overwhelmed all her senses
When the circus had to come to town
she snuck on in through the fences
She beheld a new universe
A world of wonders and flight, free
The trapeze and the acrobats
Defying gravity nightly
She stood on her aching legs, and so they did beg
to sit and enjoy the show
Rejoice at their song and dance for more than a glance
Before it was over
She returned every time she could
To see them all overhead
and her wish was to be up there
But she would watch them instead
She sat, resting both her legs, regaining her strength
Amazed as she viewed the show
Rejoiced at their song and dance for more than a glance
Before it was over
While she looked on from the floor, her heart yearned for more
She wanted to join the show
Be part of their song and dance, fulfill that romance
Before it was over
Though the tent was the centerpiece
Within a vast traveling fair
She could see vintage aeroplanes
Doing spins in the air
She stood on her aching legs, but still they did beg
to stay and enjoy the show
Rejoice at their song and dance for more than a glance
Before it was over
Here her life would take a turn, the moment she learned
The skies could be touched by her
She saw through their song and dance, had a new chance
But then it was over

Practically Normal
03:33
|
|||
So it's practically normal in nearly every way
When everyone is different, but basically the same
and it's practically normal in every walk of life
Your self can just be hidden by what we see outside
He likes the sound of jazz, he loves the taste of wine
His manner is so friendly, they call him Henry Kind
They say his gracious heart is bigger than them all
and by the way, he measures in at nine feet tall
The man who sets the mood, his name is Brian Gill
and when he's on the organ, the sound is quite a thrill
The crowd knows his performance is always full of charm
He plays it so uniquely, because he has three arms
The little girl was smiling, enraptured by the sky
The boys thought she was pretty, approached her to say hi
But soon they turned away, they said that she was marred
Her leg from top to bottom revealed a giant scar

Running Away
03:16
|
|||
When you stand out, you want to start things over
Changing your life is not an easy move
Something so drastic is a risk for others
Running away is not the thing to choose
In her possession was what others dream of
A roof overhead and simple tasks to do
Never surprising, always keep it stable
Mowing the lawn would leave a sweet perfume
But it tears her up inside
To see her traveling friends may not return again
Her found family would provide
The things that normal life gave her in short supply
Could she leave home in search of greener pastures?
Can she discard responsibilities?
Moving from place to place is trepidatious
Her home would expect her to be safe and clean
But it rips her heart inside
Her pals might go for good, but no one understood
They're more than just a show
They saw her as she was, and never made a fuss
Her pain would not subside
The day was coming close, and she could stay or go
Looking back into her home
she held on to the door, but could remain no more
Running away is not a thing done lightly
Joining the circus can evoke a laugh
Itinerancy is what you see in stories
For her it was truth, her freedom found at last

The Captain
02:55
|
|||
Here he comes, it's the Captain
We watch in wonder as he soars through the sky
With his trusty aeroplane, somewhat rustic, somewhat aged
They both look so remarkable in flight, oh
Loop the loop ever faster
The way he spins is something we have never seen
As he does it, never fear, he has practiced through the years
His plane has held together at the seams, oh
Look as he goes for the landing, his skills are outstanding
A perfectly flawless way
Soon he'll go back up and dazzle, the king of his castle
No one has surpassed has reign
There he goes, he's the Captain
We sit in silence as he flies once again
If his luster starts to fade in this fabulous parade
His clout will still precede him even then
[solo]
Look as he goes for the landing, his skills are outstanding
A perfectly flawless way
Soon he'll go back up and dazzle, the king of his castle
No one has surpassed has reign
Watch as he takes off so gently, his drive unrelenting
Appeasing the crowd outside
Someday his age may not let him, the sun may be setting
to relinquish his favorite ride
Here he comes, it's the Captain
We watch in wonder as he soars through the sky
With his trusty aeroplane, somewhat rustic, somewhat aged
They still look so remarkable in flight, oh
Loop the loop ever faster
The way he spins is something we have never seen
As he does it, never fear, he has practiced through the years
His plane still holds together at the seams, oh
They both still hold together at the seams

7. |

The Captain was fading more than he knew
Drawing less and less as his novelty reduced
His biplane was decades after its prime
Like the man himself, getting older in time
But then an idea had formed in his head
The shine of youth could bring in appeal for him again
He knew who could that be one daring doll
A woman he had known from the days she was small
He'll never be alone. He found himself a home
A place where he can find his comfort
Now he'll have to make a choice, go on and use his voice
A double act can give him so much more
Years living place to place, she had grown
To be the young adult who could live out on her own
She fled with the circus, mind in the clouds
But most of all, the woman stood out from the crowd
The Captain availed her, offered a role
To ride atop the wing of his plane as it would soar
She hardly believed it, couldn't be true
The dream was finally real, to be up in the blue
She'll never be alone. She found herself a home
A place where she can find her comfort
Now she'll have to make a choice, go on and use her voice
A double act can give her so much more
Filling the stands, a gesture so grand
The prospect compels her to welcome his hand
With her at the center of his big plan
They'll both go to places they've never had
They'll never be alone. They found themselves a home
A place where they can find their comfort
Now they went and made a choice, went on to use their voice
A double act would give them so much more

Unsurpassed
04:06
|
|||
When she first took her flight
All her worries just fell away
Incomparable in release
and beyond her mere mortal needs
She pictured this all her life
Now the Captain would show the way
and they went as fast as a breeze
Flying high above all the trees
You see a milestone within your grasp
Before you know it, it's all you have
and in the moment, you hope it lasts
Because that feeling is unsurpassed
With so much freedom, you realize
Your biggest dream is now before your eyes
The circumstances had made a path
and now that moment is unsurpassed
When the Captain first took his flight
In his mission bound for the war
He was only sixteen years old
But the fortune favors the bold
He piloted in the night
His superiors were struck down
The boy had flown his way home
a survivor up all alone
You show your valor, in darker times
When lesser people may try to hide
The boy is old now, the days have passed
But still that moment is unsurpassed
The woman stood up with pride
On the biplane that flew so high
The audience gave their cheers
While the Captain calmly would steer
The partnership would bear fruit
and she learned all that he could teach
She could pilot one day herself
"Madame Biplane" sure rings a bell
and so the Captain hung up his hat
The sun had set, and he'd stay on land
Gave up the mantle, the torch had passed
But still his memory is unsurpassed

Falling Out
03:18
|
|||
It began without warning, tiny impulses grew
She would doubt her own skill set, everything that she knew
Now the center attraction, she could feel all the heat
and the spotlight was burning, pushing her to retreat
Endeavors began to stress her, she sensed the pressure
To measure up to her famed predecessor
It turned to terror, began to scare her, the tears were falling out
She felt like an imposter, hadn't earn her way though
Though she carried the mantle, couldn't fill up his shoes
In the shadow of greatness, lesser people would fall
with the burgeoning anguish, could not take it at all
Taunted, she swear she saw it, perhaps just thought it
Dismissive audiences had her haunted
She dreamt it often, it kept right on 'til her hair was falling out
She woke up to a burden, an unbearable weight
and felt nothing could lift it, was confined to her fate
In the depths of her mind now, a conspiracy bloomed
They would stop her in some way, sabotage always loomed
Tempted, they'd clog her engine, her flight prevented
and if she flew then, her death was cemented
No way to prevent it, a crash would end it, the parts had fallen out
When regaining composure, she discarded these thoughts
But she needed some distance, and perhaps some time off
She looked back to that circus, and the traveling fair
She would search for her purpose, heading heaven knows where

On the Road
03:20
|
|||
She's on the road again
only this time, she's alone
The desert stretching out
heading far away from home
Where had all the flowers gone?
In life it seemed they withered away
They came in rainy times
Now the arid field remained
Here and then, they came to her in dreams
Empty thoughts boiled up under sunbeams
She took it step by step
Her belongings on her back
But things had weighed her down
that were never in that pack
Her life was full of miracles
Who could foresee the gifts that she gained?
She had to prove herself
Had to earn the claim to fame
Soon enough, they came to her in dreams
Wispy thoughts amounting to nothing
The temperature had got to her, it seemed
Like a plant without its moisture would recede
Now she knew where all the flowers went
A minor cease was all it had been
Their life resumed once more
When the rain would come right in
and as the water fell
she looked up and gave a smile
the way she used to do
when she was a little child

The Bus Driver
02:52
|
|||
As she walked along the interstate
She never thought she'd find her a date
But on that day, their paths would cross
The driver and his bus were the on way
She was sopping wet from head to toe
Traveling heavy, with nowhere to go
Thumbed a ride, and he happily obliged
They both would roll along the muddy road
Idle chatter seemed to matter
Praised her smile, and she was flattered
Sparks would fly between him and her
How far could this go?
So with further talk, they sped through the lane
She opened up 'bout her life and her plane
Loved the sky, and all it contained
and so to her surprise, he felt the same
How he wished his bus could rise up
Fly along to new horizons
Birds of a feather flocked together
He'd hate to go it alone
Idle chatter seemed to matter
Praised his driving, and he was flattered
Sparks increased between him and her
Could he take her home?
The lady wing-walker was a doll
This bus ride won't be lonesome at all
That handsome bus driver was so tall
She might just stay
So they raced on as the evening grew dark
He felt assured of what was in his heart
Gained the courage to say what he felt
But then it came the time to disembark
Idle chatter seemed to matter
Praised her smile, and she was flattered
Gave the hint he'd like to have her
But she had to go

Rebuilding
03:30
|
|||
She left that house so long ago
She never thought she would return, she let it go
Now was the time to reconnect
In more ways than one, based on what would happen next
She made a space in the garage
Building from scratch was a task she knew was hard
Someday she's bound to have it all
One day she'll put it all together and have it solved
The engine was coming
More pieces to fit
Her life was rebuilding
and this project was it
The plan was now running
She would do it her way
As it all was assembled
the next chapter was underway
Progress was slow, but self-assured
Doggedly working at the craft all of the time
People would gather 'round the site
Children would ask about the plane being designed
The engine had come in
The pieces would fit
Her life was rebuilding
and this project was it
The motor was running
and up went the wings
She would write her own story
and this chapter that she was in
This day she's gonna have it all
Now she could finish up at last with new resolve
The whole town had all gathered on the spot
Glad she came back, and they resigned to see her off
The last parts were fitted
The propeller would spin
She inspected it fully
and confirmed everything
She'd arrived with her pack on
No intention to stay
Now she roared like a klaxon
Soaring up as she flew away

Grandest Flight
03:40
|
|||
As it commenced, the greatest time was soon to unfold
and it surely was guaranteed, a splendid sight to behold
the start was nigh
They came to the airshow, made the biggest crowd ever known
and that night Madame Biplane and her namesake became their own show
a wondrous night
She had some doubts throughout her life, and had her share of problems
She'd seen it all, but now she's here, and just soars up right past them
When they would spend their nights together
The audience rejoiced at what they'd seen
Brighter than the stars up in the sky
The grandest flight of dreams
They'll keep it in their minds forever
A vision unlike any they had seen
Brighter than the stars up in the sky
The grandest flight of dreams
The people could see it going up, and up it would climb
and you'd see the amazement in their wild and wondering eyes
so full of light
She had some doubts throughout her life, but she resolved her problems
She'd cleared it all, and now she's here, she went above, beyond them

Farewell
04:13
|
|||
The time, it has come to say "farewell"
To say "adieu" and others of that sort
"auf Wiedersehen"
Many ways to say the same "so long" to you
As our adventures conclude
Although it's the end, some idle threads are hanging
What happened to the gentle Henry Kind?
The man so tall that he could physically touch the sky
He's remembered with a statue for his life
But even that does not go up to half his height
and so to this soul, we bid farewell
So long, now
What happened to that talent, Brian Gill?
His three hands could play the organ with such skill
Though he's older, his events are in demand
and he's always looking out to lend a hand
and so to his tune, we say farewell
'Til next time
What happened to the Captain and his plane?
It found a home in a museum for the famed
The man himself would found a school to teach his ways
A new generation would renew him with their praise
And so to this man, we say farewell
But what of--
Madame Biplane, the hero of our tale?
She and the bus driver reunited after his fun escape
They reconnected when her big show had toured his way
and though she'd never go for domestic life, she gave a love a play
Perhaps she'll train him to pilot his own aircraft someday
and so, once again, we say "farewell"
We say "adios" and others of the sort
See you around
Many different ways to convey
The feeling in your heart that wants to hold on for dear life but can't remain
But you make your choice with your parting words, and bid farewell
